Cash on delivery and manual payments

Cash on delivery and manual payments

Eekaam has two payment methods that need no payment provider:

  • Cash on Delivery (COD). The shopper pays the courier or you when the order arrives.
  • Bank Deposit / Transfer. The shopper transfers money to your account and sends you the receipt.

Neither one moves money through Eekaam, so there is nothing to connect. For both, you confirm the money arrived and mark the order paid.

Turning them on

Settings → Checkout → Payment methods.

SettingWhat it does
Cash on Delivery (COD)Offers COD at checkout. On for new stores
Bank Deposit / TransferOffers bank transfer at checkout
Deposit instructionsYour bank details, shown when a shopper picks bank deposit. Up to 2,000 characters
Default payment methodWhich of the two is pre-selected for the shopper

Press Save when you are done.

When you switch bank deposit on, the instructions box is pre-filled with a template: bank name, account title, account number, IBAN, and a line asking the shopper to reply to their order confirmation with the receipt. Fill in your own details.

Bank deposit stays hidden at checkout until the instructions box has text in it. Switching it on is not enough by itself.

If you switch both methods off and have no online provider, checkout still offers COD, so a shopper is never left with no way to pay.

When you also take online payments

If you also switch a provider on under Settings → Payments (see Connecting a payment provider), that screen decides what checkout shows:

  • COD is added for you and stays offered alongside your providers.
  • Bank deposit is no longer offered.
  • The COD, bank deposit and default switches under Settings → Checkout stop having any effect.

So bank deposit only works on stores that take no online payments.

What the shopper sees

In the Payment section of checkout:

  • COD shows as Cash on Delivery (COD), with the line Pay when you receive your order.
  • Bank deposit shows as Bank Deposit / Transfer. Selecting it opens a Bank deposit details panel with your instructions.

For both, the order is created as soon as the shopper places it. There is no redirect to a payment page.

What happens to the order

A COD or bank deposit order is placed with payment status pending, and the order page shows the total as Balance due. Straight away:

  • The shopper gets the order confirmation email. For bank deposit, that email is what they reply to with the receipt, and replies go to your store email.
  • The store owner gets a new-order email.

Eekaam does not check bank statements or match receipts. Check that the money has reached your account before you ship.

Marking an order paid

  1. Open the order from Orders.
  2. In the payment summary, press Mark as paid. The button only shows while the payment is pending.

The order's payment status changes to paid, and the order now counts as paid in reports and exports.

For COD, mark the order paid once the courier has handed the cash over to you, not when the parcel is delivered. That way your paid orders match the money you actually have.

Marking orders paid needs the Manage order payments permission. Built-in roles like Customer support and Cashier already have it. See Staff and permissions.

Keeping track of unpaid orders

Filter Orders by payment status to see everything still pending. The same filter applies to Export, so you can hand your courier or accountant a list of outstanding COD orders. See Exporting your data.
