Customers

Customers in your Eekaam admin lists everyone who has bought from you or has an account, with their email subscription status, location, number of orders and amount spent. Search finds customers by name, email or phone.

Where customer records come from

You rarely need to add customers by hand. A record is created when:

  • a shopper checks out on your storefront
  • you create an order for someone new with Orders → Create order
  • a shopper registers an account on your storefront
  • you press Add customer, or import a CSV

At checkout, Eekaam looks for an existing customer with the same phone number, or the same email if no phone was given. Repeat buyers therefore build up one history instead of creating duplicates.

What a profile holds

Open a customer to see their profile.

SectionWhat it shows

Organising customers

Tags are the way to group customers. Eekaam has no separate customer groups or segments. Add tags from the customer's profile, then use them to spot your wholesale buyers or VIPs at a glance.

Adding and editing

Add customer needs a first name and an email. Last name, phone and Email marketing are optional. Each email can belong to only one customer in your store.

To change details or marketing consent later, open the customer and use More actions → Edit customer.

Customer accounts on your storefront

Shoppers can create an account at /account/register on your store, sign in at /account/login, and view their account at /account. Signed in, they can see their orders and manage saved addresses. How those pages look depends on your theme.

A shopper who checked out as a guest already has a customer record, but no password. Signing in tells them to set a password first, and registering with the same email says it is already registered. There is no way for them to set one from the storefront, so to get an account they need to register with an email they haven't used at checkout.

Deleting a customer

More actions → Delete customer removes the customer and their saved details. This can't be undone. Their past orders stay in Orders.

Import and export

Customers → Export downloads everyone as a CSV. The Import button takes a CSV in the same format, up to 10,000 rows and 10 MB. It matches customers by email: existing customers are updated, and new emails become new customers. Download sample CSV in the import dialog gives you a template.

Column details are in Exporting your data.

Who can do what

Viewing and exporting customers needs View customers. Adding or importing needs Create customers, editing needs Edit customers, and deleting needs Delete customers. See Staff and permissions.
