Discounts and marketing

Eekaam's built-in marketing tools are discount codes and recovering abandoned checkouts. For ad tracking on Google, TikTok, Snapchat and Meta, see Analytics and reports.

Creating a discount code

Discounts → Create discount. You need the Manage discounts permission. Your plan caps how many discount codes you can have; see Plans and pricing.

  1. Under Discount method, choose Code.
  2. Enter a Title for your own reference, and the Discount code shoppers will type, such as SUMMER20. Codes are unique within your store, and shoppers must type them exactly as written, including upper and lower case.
  3. Pick a Discount type and its value, which are covered below.
  4. Set any Minimum requirements, Active dates and Usage limits, then press Create discount.

Discount method also offers Automatic, which is meant for discounts that apply without a code. Checkout doesn't apply automatic discounts yet: you can save one, but shoppers won't get it. Use a code instead.

Discount types

TypeWhat it doesValue
ProductTakes money off selected itemsA percentage, or a fixed amount. Applies to all products, specific products or specific collections
OrderTakes money off the whole orderA percentage or a fixed amount
ShippingMakes shipping freeNone

A product discount only reduces the items it covers. With 20% off one collection, a cart containing other products gets 20% off just the collection's items. A fixed amount never takes more off than those items cost.

If none of the items in the cart qualify, the shopper sees Discount code does not apply to any items in your cart.

Conditions and limits

SettingEffect at checkout
Minimum requirementsNone, a minimum order amount, or a minimum number of items. The amount is measured against the whole cart subtotal
Active datesBefore the start date the code is not yet active. After the end date it has expired. Leave the end date blank for no expiry
Total usage limitHow many orders can use the code in total. 0 means unlimited. Each completed order counts as one use
StatusOn an existing discount, switch it off to stop the code working straight away without deleting it

A checkout takes one code at a time. The One use per customer and Combinations switches are saved with the discount, but checkout doesn't check them. If a code must be used only once, set Total usage limit to 1.

Tracking a code

Open a discount to see its Usage tracking: how many orders used the code, the revenue from those orders, and the orders themselves. The Discounts list shows each code's uses against its limit and whether it's Active or Inactive. The counts above the list include how many codes have expired. Codes also appear in the order export under Discount Code and Discount Amount; see Exporting your data.

Abandoned checkouts

Orders → Abandoned checkouts lists checkouts where a shopper entered their contact details but didn't place the order.

A checkout counts as abandoned once it has sat for one hour after the shopper entered an email or phone number. Eekaam checks every 30 minutes and emails each abandoned checkout once. The email lists what was left in the cart and includes a link that restores it. The link lasts 48 hours.

ColumnMeaning
Email statusSent once the recovery email has gone out
Recovery statusRecovered if the shopper came back and completed the order

Open a checkout to see the cart, the shopper's contact and shipping details, and whether they agreed to marketing. From there you can copy the recovery link to send it yourself, for example over WhatsApp, or send the recovery email again.

Recovery emails go only to email addresses. A shopper who gave only a phone number appears in the list, but nothing is sent to them automatically.
